| | K & K Sound's Twin Spot is unusual in that it consists of two piezo transducers wired together. This allows for far more flexibility and potentially better sound, and apparently it also increases the output level quite a bit. The danger with such a simple two-pickup system is the "comb filter" effect where the output from the two pickups begin cancel each other out on certain frequencies. I haven't had any problems with that yet though. This pickup system performs very well on a wide variety of instruments. The sensors are small enough to fit most anywhere, and the double sensors allow for great possibilities of fine-tuning the output by changing placement alone. The sound is loud - loud enough that you can run it without a preamp if you have to (not that I would recommend it, but it is possible). It's possible to get a really realistic sound, although it does have a slightly "raw" edge to it that may not be to everybody's taste. K & K Sound also manufactures a number of variants optimized for certain instruments (including a triple transducer guitar system) as well as a simple single transducer system. So far I've only tried the genreal prupose Twin Spot. I've tried the K & K Sound Twin Spot Classic on these instruments: Back to index
