Re: installation of Accu_stic Bass guitar

> How do I install the Accu_stic in a acoustic bass guitar with a preamp eq. I want to replace the under saddle pickup.

There are a number of ways to do that.

A simple solution is to simply igonre the existing pickup/preamp system and just drill a new hole for the Accu_stic jack socket. The Accu_stic doesn't really need the preamp installed in your bass since it's already has one.
The advantages to this is that it's easy to do and that you can still use the original pickup system if you want to.
The disadvantages are that you'll have to drill an extra hole in the side of the bass and that the volume and tone controls on the bass won't work for the Accu_stic.

Another simple alternative is to do as I suggested above and get yourself a small external mixer/blender to mix the output from the Accu_stic with the original pickup system. This is definitely how I would have done it. You can get a small inexpensive mixer that clips onto your guitar strap to keep the volume controls close at hand.

Alternative three is to buy a lead with the right plugs between the Accu_stic output and the original preamp/eq input. You need a 3.5 mm mini jack on the Accu_stic end and probably a 2.5 mm mini jack on the preamp end (depending on the brand).
Advantages: very easy to do, and the onboard volume and tone controls works with the Accu_stic.
Disadvantages: The Accu_stic's on/off switch will be effectively disabled so you'll have to change batteries for it quite often. More seriously: the original under saddle pickup will be disabled. I'm not sure if that's a very good idea. The Accu_stic is a wonderful little gadget to add realism to the rather dry and "synthetic" sound of an under saddle pickup, but I'm not convinced it'll manage to give a good enough sound on its own - espceially not on a bass.

The really advanced solution: Replace the onboard preamp/eq with an onboard mizer/blender. Quite easy to do if you have some basic skills in electronics. If not, see if you can locate somebody who does. Two problems that needs to be solved with that solution: You have to find a blender that fits your bass (that is, it's the same size as the original preamp) and you still have to figure out the Accu_stic's battery on/off switch.
